A History of Israeli Cinema is peppered with interviews with celebrated directors, actors, producers, film scholars and critics. These are used ingeniously to propel the documentary forward, rather than as passive commentators. Engagingly, this extraordinary work is not ‘just’ a film about a nation’s cinematic history, but it also explores the parallel history of the State of Israel itself.
