Inspired by the Broadway musical A Chorus Line, Step By Step features 40 young Muslim and Jewish Israelis, in an inspirational voyage of self discovery, set to an original musical score. This unique spectacle is set on the bare stage of a theatre, during an audition for a new musical. It provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers, as they describe the events that have shaped their lives, and why they want to perform. A sixteen year old participant describes this: ‘Step by Step will present our stories as they intermingle and create a pattern, just like the ripple effect of a pebble dropped in a pond’ Step By Step reveals what connects and unites, instead of what separates and divides. It describes an Israel rarely seen in the media: two peoples living together in harmony on the same piece of land. Reality mirrors fiction - the young Muslims and Jews creating this show have bonded in a common project with shared goals. Step By Step features Leo Baeck Education Centre's Carmelim Dance Troupe together with students from Ein Mahel School. UK premiere performance: Tickets: £17.50 (£15.00 concessions) - click here.
