Smoked salmon is serious business at H. Forman & Son, the East End’s last smokehouse, founded by Harry Forman in Stepney in 1905, and run today by his great-grandson Lance Forman at Fish Island in Hackney Wick who will talk to us about the business, his battle with the Olympic Authority and the history of smoked salmon. The tour of the iconic smokehouse will include a salmon carving demonstration by Darren Matson, the Guinness World record Salmon slicer. Before lunch in their restaurant with windows overlooking the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Mr Forman will conduct a tutored tasting through the different types and cuts of salmon as we taste them.
Their site is just on the canal, and there is an alternative ending option of a private two hour cruise of some of the forgotten Rivers of East London with a picnic bagel lunch on board. The tour would then conclude in the landscaped park lands of the Olympic Park.
Superior Tour plus 2 course lunch £60 – please contact Wendy to book your place.
