Did you or a loved one miss out on a Bar/Bat Mitzvah at 13? Are you approaching your second (at 83) or third (at 96) Bar/Bat Mitzvah? Did you become Jewish when you were an adult, but never get the opportunity to celebrate becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then please read on.

Starting on Wednesday 17 February at 7:00pm, WLS is launching a NEW Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah Programme.

Weekly sessions will explore the history of Bar/Bat Mitzvah, the importance of making the Torah relevant in each era, the essentials of Progressive Jewish identity, as well as focusing on some of the core preparations for the synagogue ceremony. For those who may not be able to read Hebrew or lead a service, we will signpost you to an approved WLS tutor.

Once enrolled, participants will be encouraged to pick a Shabbat date for their celebration. This moment on the Bimah can be shared with another adult or not, but must be scheduled for at least 6 months after starting this programme.
