11.00-14.00: CHORAL COMMUNITY SERVICE
in the Sanctuary
The classical WLS choral service probably hasn’t changed a great deal in a century, but it still packs a punch, makes us think, and gets us in the mood for the long, reflective, moving day of Yom Kippur.
11.00-13.30: KOLEINU: SHIRA SHACHARIT
in the 2nd Floor Conference Room
A new parallel service. If you are after a participative, musical, spiritual and intellectually stimulating start to the long day of Yom Kippur, then this is the prayer-space for you. Join Rabbi David and a group of lay readers for a more intimate encounter with the morning prayers of Yom Kippur, a liturgy which challenges us to contemplate our successes and failures. This service will conclude in time to join the rest of the congregation for the Torah Service in the Sanctuary.
11.30-12.45: INTERGENERATIONAL FAMILY SERVICE
in the Stern Hall
Our Family Services have built a reputation as ‘The Place To Go’ on Yom Kippur for a blend of traditional prayers with interactive participation, music and readings. These services are designed to appeal to young people, their parents and grandparents. No children may be left unsupervised.
11.00-11.45: SHABBATOTS SERVICE
in the Council Room
Join Daliah and Jonah, the puppet, for a very special ShabbaTOTS service to mark Yom Kippur. As we hear the story of Jonah, we will think about all the good we’ve done in the past year and reflect on the times we were sorry. Perfect for those aged 0-4 with their parents.
11.00-12.45: TEEN SERVICE
in the Room of Prayer
Ages 11-18 – special Teen Service led by WLS young leaders! This will be an opportunity to reflect on the year that has gone and share our hopes for the future. Everyone is invited to wear white, the colour associated with this holy time of year.
12.45-13.30: CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES
in the Basement
Come and join us in creating the decorations for this year’s amazing Sukkah! Origami, arts & crafts and special Sukkot decorations in a creative hour for ages 3-10. All family members are welcome to join!
