We will focus on the relationship between the Psalms and Modern Israeli Poetry & the ways that modern poets have wrestled with & referenced biblical quotations and imagery in their work. Texts will be provided in both Hebrew and English, but no prior knowledge of Hebrew is necessary. A chance to discover some of the grammar, syntax and vocabulary of the siddur and deepen your encounter with the liturgy by increasing your understanding of the main prayers in the service. This course will run all year and is ideal for those of us who have learnt our letters but have no idea what it is we're saying when we pray in Hebrew! Deepen your love for the ancient words of our prayers.(A prerequisite is knowing your Aleph-Bet.
